SNMIH’s blood bank provides screened blood and components for patient care, supported by trained personnel and medical supervision, 24 hours a day.

Blood & Component Services

Blood collection, screening and component services

Our team manages the preparation, testing and storage of blood and components. Please confirm current availability with the blood bank, as stocks vary by blood group and component.

Blood & Components

Services cover whole blood, packed red blood cells (PRBC), fresh frozen plasma (FFP), platelets and cryoprecipitate.

Blood Screening

Donated blood is screened for infections that can be transmitted through transfusion, using approved testing methods.

Component Separation

Dedicated facilities support the separation, preparation and storage of blood components for clinical use.

Trained Personnel

Qualified staff manage blood-bank services under the supervision of the Blood Bank Medical Officer.

Before Your Visit

Requesting blood or planning to donate?

Speak with the blood-bank team about clinical requests, applicable charges and donation arrangements.

01

Requesting blood

Your treating doctor determines which blood component is required. Contact the blood bank for guidance on the requisition, patient samples and documents needed. Issue depends on current availability and the required testing procedures.

02

Support for patients needing repeated transfusions

Blood and components are provided free of charge to patients with thalassaemia, haemophilia, sickle-cell anaemia and other blood disorders requiring repeated lifesaving transfusions, in accordance with NBTC guidelines. Contact the team for guidance on the supporting medical documents.
